Daniel Appelö

Daniel Appelö is a professor at the Department of Mathematics and an affiliated faculty with CMDA (Computational Modeling and Data Analytics) program, Virginia Tech. His research interest is the development, analysis and implementation of fast, stable and accurate numerical algorithms, forward and inverse problems governed by acoustic, elastic and electromagnetic waves, as well as developing and analyzing computational tools for quantum computing applications. He obtained his PhD in Numerical Analysis at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He held postdoctoral positions at the University of New Mexico, Caltech and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and he has held faculty positions at the University of New Mexico, University of Colorado Boulder, and Michigan State University, before joining Virginia Tech.
