Dr. Rosemarie Bongers (she/they) is an assistant teaching professor at the University of California, Merced; she is also a transgender woman. She completed her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ignacio Uriarte-Tuero at Michigan State University, working in the intersection between complex analysis and geometric measure theory ; she then completed a research postdoc at Washington University in St. Louis and a teaching postdoc at Harvard University. Her current research areas include fractal geometry of self-similar sets and operator bounds in harmonic analysis. As the chair of UC Merced's Data Science and Computing undergraduate program, she also works in institutional and educational data analysis to understand differential impacts and outcomes for minoritized students.
