Samuel Van Fleet

PIMS-Simons Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Washington

Sam Van Fleet is currently an Acting Instructor and Pearson Fellow in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington Seattle. He currently works with his postdoc mentor Dr. Jingwei Hu on structure pre- serving particle methods for partial differential equations. Before working at the University of Washington, Sam received his PhD in Applied Mathematics in August 2022 from Iowa State University. As a PhD student, Sam enjoyed classes in areas of scientific computing and numerical analysis, which led him to working on Discontinuous Galerkin methods for hyperbolic Conservation Law with Dr. James Rossmanith.
