2025 PIMS Postdoctoral Summit
Topic
On April 27 - 28, 2025 the PIMS Postdoctoral Summit will bring together PIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellows for an in-person summit at the University of Calgary. The goal of this meeting is to help PIMS Postdoctoral fellows to form a cohort, share research experience, and access career mentorship.
Details
Talks & Discussions
We invite each postdoctoral fellow to present a 25-minute talk on their research, an influential project, or an open problem they hope to tackle in the future. Unlike traditional seminar or conference talks, this session is designed to foster connections and potential collaborations among postdocs.
- Present on your own research, a topic that has shaped your work, or a future research direction.
- Engage with fellow postdocs in a relaxed and interactive setting.
- Use slides or a chalkboard—whichever suits your style.
- Dedicated discussion time will be scheduled to encourage in-depth conversations.
Professional Development Sessions
In addition to research talks, we will offer two tailored professional development workshops:
- Communication Skills – Learn how to effectively present your research to a broad audience, preparing you for talks such as the PIMS Emergent Research Seminar Series.
- Writing Effective EDI Statements – Gain insights on crafting strong Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) statements for grants and job applications.
Networking & Mentorship
Special guests will join us to share insights and mentor postdocs preparing for the next stage of their careers. Join to connect with potential future colleagues, collaborators, and mentors within the PIMS network!
