The Cycle Double Cover Conjecture - Historical roots and the proof developed with OpenAI
Speakers
Details
Abstract: The cycle double cover conjecture asserts that every bridgeless graph admits a collection of cycles in which each edge occurs exactly twice. In this talk we present the conjecture’s historical roots and proof developed with OpenAI.
We begin with the motivations and early developments that led to the conjecture. We then explain the proposed proof, using the Petersen graph as a running example to illustrate the construction of a cycle double cover. If time permits, we discuss potential strengthenings and extensions.
Additional Information
The Discrete Mathematics Group holds a weekly seminar on Thursdays at 10:00am PDT in CLE D130. Some of the lectures will be available through Zoom and this will be indicated in the announcement e-mail sent to the mailing list.
The seminar is currently corganized by Peter Dukes and Gary MacGillivray. If you would like to join the mailing list to receive announcements of future talks, please send a blank e-mail to discrete-math-talks-join@lists.uvic.ca and follow the instructions in the confirmation e-mail.
