Call for Proposals: SMS 2028 Summer School at PIMS

PIMS is excited to host the 2028 Séminaire de Mathématiques Supérieures (SMS) in Vancouver, and the SMS steering board is now accepting letters of intent from prospective organizing teams.

The SMS is a high-level summer school in pure and applied mathematics, running annually since 1961. Each edition focuses on a timely research theme, runs two weeks, includes 10–12 minicourses, and hosts 40–60 advanced graduate students selected competitively with financial support. The SMS is jointly supported by the CRM and ISM, the Fields Institute, PIMS, and SLMath. More information and past schools.

This is a wonderful opportunity to shape an internationally visible school on a topic you're passionate about. A two-page letter of intent should include the proposed title and theme, the organizers and prospective lecturers (with affiliations), and a short description of the proposed minicourses.
 

Key dates:

• June 12, 2026 — letters of intent due to Sakina Benhima (benhima@crm.umontreal.ca)
• September 2026 — full proposals due (from shortlisted teams)
